Fort Wayne, Indiana lies within Allen County. The city received its name after Anthony Wayne.

 

Fort Wayne was home to the Miami Indians. French fur traders came the the area sometime during the 1680s.

 

The area also saw the rise and fall of Fort Miamis and Fort St. Philippe.

 

Fort Wayne, Indiana was part of the French and Indian War. Moreover, it was specifically involved with Pontiac’s Rebellion.

 

Interestingly, Julia Barr, Dan Butler, Edith Hamilton, Dick York, Stephen King, Shelley Long and Patrick McVey are all notable people from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
